“I am only human”, a statement used by many as an expression of the tendency of Man to make mistakes and that to err is human. From the usage of this phrase, this statement can be seen as a term of exasperation or the acceptance of the fallen nature of Man. In both scenarios, it shows of one’s understanding and realization that there is a perfect state which they have failed to achieve. This understanding seems to come naturally as we age or when we gain more knowledge of ourselves.
The perfect state allows one to pitch oneself against it during self evaluation. Time and again, we always fall short of that perfect state. We understand that we may never be perfect but yet we try to get to it. In our own means, we may never find it in ourselves as we will not achieve it.
Though we understand the concept of perfect state – everybody understands it through confession of the nature of Man to make errors – there is no strive towards finding the perfect state, or at least name it. In thermodynamics, there is a perfect engine – the Carnot Heat Engine. It is an ideal engine in theory in which engineers tries to achieve when designing different system cycles which gives work output. We found or at the very least name the perfect state of engine.
What then about the perfect state of Man? We have acknowledged that there is a perfect state even if it is only in an idea. But we have failed to seek the perfect state or at the very least name that state.
I believe that the perfect man is Jesus Christ. He is the perfect state of Man but we do not seek Him. We merely gauge ourselves to Him although many do not acknowledge Him. We will continue to be apart from perfectness if we do not seek to find and understand Him. Death is the seal which proves of Man's non-perfectness but even death has no hold unto Jesus.
Jesus is the perfect man.
