What's on Your agenda?

“I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me.” – Psa 22:14

David was discouraged. Time and again, he faces adversities from all around. Just when you thought that fending off life threatening attacks was the hardest he had to face; the slashing words and piercing insults tormented him so much more.

These difficult situations that David had to face flummoxed me. A loving God with such an agenda packed with much hardship is hard to reconcile – confounding. What are the facts? David is experiencing pain. God allowed him to go through this pain. Logically, not loving.

Looking at the big picture, ability-wise, David together with his mighty men would definitely have little issues winning armies whose size is much larger than theirs as he has mighty men like Josheb-Basshebeth who can kill eight hundred men in one encounter. However, David's spirit was broken and the bravery of another could not assist him in his personal battle.

However, David drew strength from this logically unloving God such that he found courage to stand firm to his ground and fight on. This logically unloving God gave him strength. What then can we say of David's God? A hidden agenda?

It seems good to me to say that this God is loving. It is precisely because of His loving nature, God gave David strength. It is through all this nasty events that His love was fully exemplified and fully experienced by David. The agenda He has was to love. The hidden agenda He kept was for David to experience his love.

I want to experience Your immense love but please control the difficulty level.
