Yakuza Moon: Memoirs of a gangster's daughter by Shoko Tendo

"Thanks for the flowers."
"What are you going to do now?"
"Well, first I'm going to get a day job. Then I'm going to do what I always wanted to do since I was a kid. I'm going to be a writer."
"You, a writer?" Taka started to laugh.
"I though you'd find it funny. But I'm serious."
"I see. You're not worried about being alone?"
"No."
"If things get tough, don't let it get you down, all right?"
"I won't."
"Take care now."
"Bye, Taka."
I pushed a couple of buttone on my phone, and a message appeared on the screen.

I pushed yes.

- Chapter Nine

When the past gives a worldview that is twisted and deep down you are yearning for that deep desire to be filled, the decisions made are at times, illogical and pain causing. Nevertheless, family ties never fails and a determined heart overcomes all odds. And this is what Yakuza Moon is about: A sweet and kind lil' girl caught in the downward spiral of mucky pit and came out, although scarred, stands convinced to take on a better life.

I was down on my hands and knees wiping the floor, so I was hidden between two desks. When I heard the familiar voice of a teacher who was always kind to me, I pricked up my ears.
"Shoko Tendo? She can draw, and maybe her basic reading and writing's OK, but that's about it. There's not much you can teach an idiot like that."

That was how I learned that people can be two-faced, a lesson I never forgot.
