Of raffia and hula 050210

Thank God for James who offered me a freelance job for faciliating a station at the training session at Westwood Secondary School. The training is focused on the idea of Resilience and for my station, R, I'm to bring to them the idea of Responsibility. I enjoyed the session a lot. The "Banzai" Sec 5 students reminded me of the Sec 5s in my 'O' level batch. They were so motivated that some of their results could make the cut off into JC. I hope these "Banzai" Sec 5s would get excellent results too.

Westwood left a deep impression in me. The Principal, Betty Chang, educates the students in a different and encouraging manner. The students are well behaved and an energetic bunch because of her values in education. She was able to inspire them to not only play hard but also to study harder, not forgetting giving them the confidence that together they are able to overcome the great hurdle of 'O's. From talking to the lab assist, Jack, who helped me at my station, all the students were at some camp and some classes even went overseas for enrichment. Doris, the coordinator for such enrichment sessions, were full of praises for her too. Met some good teacher there too like Mr Chia and Miss Cerenna.

Today, I received an email from Outward Bound Singapore. I wonder if being an instructor is what God has called me to be. Shall sign up for the briefing and see where it leads to me next.

One of the group that completed the race.

Enjoying what I did that day with the students.
