Of "what to eat" and "what colour you like"

"For livelihood I can bear it. If it's an insult to martial arts, I can't take it lying down" - Master Hong

Went to watch this with Carrot. Wanted to want a movie with Jim too but I guess celebration with Shari is important too!

In the previous Ip Man's movie, the struggle was with the oppression from the Japanese soldiers. In current Ip Man, the battle was against the oppression from the British Colonist. The two party's conflict was intensified by an arrogant British boxer that had little respect for the Chinese martial arts. However, this was not only the case for the boxer. The Chinese martial arts was coined as Chinese form of boxing and hence shows the attitude of the colonistic masters where the Chinese is less than them.

Intertwined in the struggle against the oppressionist, there is intense stifle maong the Chinese martial artist. The masters fought against each other to maintain the peaceful order that have been set in place till the appearance of Ip Man who poses a threat to it. Nevertheless, it was resolved and the masters recognised and embraced Ip Man

The family sphere was also displayed where the role of the genders are emphasized: the male, represented by Ip Man and Master Hong while the female was represented by their wives, the aunites and Master hong's daughters. Each have a role to play and the male breadwinner model of the time was clearly demonstrated and domestic affairs where fully taken up by the female.

"I just want to be home." - Master Ip

Captivated by their desire to fight for their ideology of righteousness.
