Asian Size

Had breakfast at Macdonalds this morning with hunny Rachel. Once again, I ordered the Big Breakfast Meal. As I removed the usual yellow cover, to my astonishment, I wondered why I order this again. I felt cheated.

It was such a joy, when I was younger, to go to Macdonalds in the morning for breakfast since we do not go Macdonalds often. You might have guessed, my parents were struggling to put food on the table. They would leave us at Macdonalds and go to the coffee shop next door to have their meal. Papa and Mummy love us so much. Gosh... my eyes are starting to tear.

Back to the topic, where is the BIG? Which part of the meal is big? The meal seems to have shrank drastically since the 1990s. I feel that they should change the name of Big Breafast to Big but Smaller that Hotcakes Set Meal, simply because it is not longer the biggest breakfast meal. The hotcakes set is bigger. Trust me on this, I can see with my eyes and feel with my stomach.

I have used the term "Asian Size" not only to Macs. Burger King and Long John Silvers are another two fast food restuarants that I have noticed such undesirable changes. They had fell to the attack of the "Asian Size" plague. Long John Silvers faring the worse as they no longer serve crispy and delicious chicken or fish fillets. They are selling chicken and fish nuggets. Disappointing. Just hope that Carl's Jr, the up and coming fast food restuarant, do not stumble against the "Asian Size" movement.

I am going back to my hawker food such as my favourite $2 Wanton mee soup. Cheap, delicious and filling. Prices of everything just keep going up. F&B restuarants of fast food concept also push their prices but the amount does not increase proportionately. Worse, the serving is reduced.

I am asian. I am bigger that some ang moh expatriates I see. The fact I am point out is that Asians are growing out of the stereotype and corny jokes of the past.

Give me the joy of opening up the usual yellow cover again.
