I wanted to watch the movie King Kong for some time and finally got down to it. The 2hr plus movie was entertaining. The idea of an animal, a being of lower intelligence, understanding the meaning of love is captivating. It is abstract, of another world.
What really caught my attention was the repetition of the phrase, "He died for what he believed in" by the director when his friends and colleagues died in his quest to film a good movie. He struggled for fame, gave up all he has, to achieve. Cheats himself. Disillusioned.
At the end of the day, where all is lost, he did not give up any chance and tempted another to follow in his footstep. Both decided to forego what is precious to them. They made a decision. They chose pride, fame and glory.
The tempted, captain of a ship and crew, was righteous and brave. However, he was unable to stand against the influence of pride. His defences broke and made a stand where the lives of his sailor is put in unneccessary danger. A fallen leader.
There is a contrast between this two and a sailor under the command of this captain. He showed tremendous courage. In his small role, he showed the drastic difference in actions and behaviour. Righteous till the very end. Protected the person he loved and whoever that needs it. Rather than blaming, he tries to understand.
Live in courage and righteousness. Live not solely for pride, fame and glory. In struggles do not give up family, friends and morale values for success.
